Project Settings and Blackboard
UGAIS_DeveloperSettings contains project-wide policy and StateTree integration settings. Treat these values as integration contracts rather than cosmetic defaults. For setup, see Integrate StateTree and Blackboard; for team-policy fields, see Team Identity and Debugging Reference.
UGAIS_DeveloperSettings
Parameter | Purpose and risk |
|---|---|
| Selects the project policy CDO, mainly for team queries/writes. Change it when the project has its own faction/team system. Without it the default policy is used; if project truth is outside its lookup path, team filtering fails. |
| Defines StateTree Stack priority; later entries are higher. Add Squad, Alert, or Scripted layers as needed, but Command must remain highest or overrides/fallback become incorrect. |
| World-space text offset from Actor. Use when PIE text is obscured or too high/low. Available only in Editor/debug-drawing builds; never Shipping UI configuration. |
| Debug Overlay text scale. Increase for readable StateTree text; excessive scale obscures other local HUD diagnostics. |
| Local Debug Overlay text color. Useful to distinguish GAIS text during multi-system debugging; it never represents replicated state. |
| Optional Pawn-class filters. Controllers resolve to Pawns first; overly narrow filters make registered text appear absent. |
Blackboard keys include BlackboardKey_CommandDefinition (Command Definition), BlackboardKey_CommandIndex (MultiVariant index), BlackboardKey_CommandRange (required range), BlackboardKey_HomeLocation (location at command issue), BlackboardKey_SelfActor (executing Actor), BlackboardKey_TargetActor, BlackboardKey_TargetLocation, and BlackboardKey_HasLocation (default bHasLocation). Keep them consistent with Command StateTree Evaluators, Tasks, and the Blackboard asset. A mismatch can make a valid Command appear targetless, use a wrong variant, or give return/hold-position behavior no reference point.
Tuning guidance
First make a minimal Command work with the default Keys, then rename them consistently with the project's Blackboard conventions. After changing them, check the StateTree Evaluators, Tasks, and Blackboard asset together. Do not treat Debug Overlay settings as Shipping UI configuration.
