Module relationship

GenericSettingsSystemUI is an optional adapter that depends on GenericSettingsSystem and GenericUISystem. It presents the Local Player's settings registry through CommonUI. If your project does not use the GGS settings menu, the core settings module does not need this layer.

Basic widget structure

  1. Create a menu widget derived from UGSS_GameSettingsMenu.
  2. Add a UGSS_GameSettingsPanel and bind it as Settings_Panel.
  3. Configure a ListView in the panel to host entries and assign a UGSS_GameSettingsEntryWidgetFactory.
  4. Provide project widgets for Discrete, Scalar, Action, and navigation entries. Entries are built on CommonUI widgets.
  5. Add UGSS_GameSettingsDetailView and the matching Section Builder / Detail Section when you need a details area.

Widget names and BindWidget fields must match the declarations in the relevant base classes. Optional controls can be omitted; before enabling an entry layout, confirm its widget class and factory are configured.

The menu can apply or cancel changes, reset visible settings, navigate to a SettingId, and handle the back action. With bAutoBuildTopSettingsTabs enabled, it can build tabs from top-level Collections using a project-provided Tab Button class.

When the menu exits with uncommitted edits, its implementation restores the recorded initial values. Make Apply/Cancel state visible, especially when Dynamic values write through their accessors immediately. Use stable Gameplay Tags for navigation targets instead of UI display text.
